Ministry of Transportation-Madina located in Dhu Ash Shimalin, Adh Dhahirah, Madina. Ministry of Transportation working on design, implementation and maintenance of roads works, and organization and development of road transport and maritime transport services within the Kingdom. Ministry of Transportation aims to raising the efficiency of performance, quality and transparency in the work of the ministry, and increase funding sources for the establishment and maintenance of transportation facilities.
In 1935 was established a department for public works and minerals that subordinate to the Ministry of Finance and National Economy and it was concerned with the affairs of public works, including roads. In 1953 became a Ministry of communications oversees that all linked to transport roads, rail and ports. In 1975 was restructured the state ministries and public institutions and was established a public institution for Ports and another for railway, since this history the ministry has become responsible for the planning, design and construction and maintenance of roads and bridges. In 1977 was established in the Ministry of communication a specialized agency for transport that is responsible for planning and supervising the land and maritime transport sector. In 2003, the name was changed from the Ministry of Communications to Ministry of Transportation.
