Ministry of Higher Education located in Madina in Saudi Arabia. On January 29, 2015, was issued a royal decree of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman to combine Ministry of Higher Education with the Ministry of Education in one ministry that called Ministry of Education, and the appointment of Dr. Azzam Al-Dakhil, as a Minister of Education. The Ministry of Higher Education was pre-merger is responsible for higher education policy in Saudi Arabia until the date of January 29, 2015 and it was the supervisor of the Saudi universities, the ministry was founded in 1395 although its existence previously as a government institution was interested in higher education and was the last Minister of it pre-merger, Dr. Khalid Abdullah al-Sabti. It was the beginning of higher education in the Kingdom in 1369, when was founded College of Sharia in Makkah, it was as a nucleus of higher education and it followed Directorate of General Knowledge, and Teachers College in Mecca in 1372 H, which turned into a College of Education in 1382, this college and college of sharia were following the King Abdul Aziz University in Jeddah, until the year 1401, when was founded Umm Al Qura University in Makkah. With the establishment of the Faculty of Sharia in Mecca in 1396, and Teachers College in Mecca in 1372 H, and the Faculty of Sharia in Riyadh in 1373 H, and the Faculty of Arabic Language in Riyadh in 1374, King Abdulaziz Military College in 1375, and was the beginning of the emergence of universities. It was the first university King Saud University in Riyadh in 1377, and then rolled universities, and thus was the emergence of the Ministry of Higher Education in 1395.
