Al-Baqi' located in Madinah to the southeast of Al Masjid al-Nabawi. It is one of the most famous cemeteries throughout the Islamic world, it is the main cemetery for the people of Medina, where about 10,000 Sahabi buried, including Fatima Zahra and son of the Prophet peace be upon him, and his aunt Safiah and his uncle Abbas and his wife Aisha Bint Abu Bakr, and his grandson Al Hasan bin Ali, and Ali Bin Al Hussein and was buried in it Othman bin Affan. It is also known as Baqi al-Gharqad, which means "Baqi of the Boxthorn”, When prophet Muhammad arrived at Medina from Mecca in September 622, al-Baqi was a land covered with Lycium shawii boxthorn trees. The current area of Al Baqi' is 180.000 square meters.
