King Saud University is a public university in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, founded in 1957 by King Saud bin Abdulaziz, it is the second university in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia after Umm Al Qura university. It was renamed to King Saud University in 1982 by King Khaled bin Abdulaziz after changing its name to Riyadh university in the time of King Faisal Bin Abdulaziz.
King Saud University is the second biggest university in the world, and the government dedicated 1% of the state budget for it. It is one of the best 200 universities in the world in 2013 and 2014 according to the Academic Ranking of World Universities, QS World University Ranking classified Saud university as the 197th among the world's universities and the 159th in Science and medical studies and the 108th in Arts and Humanities.
Webometrics Ranking of World Universities gave King Saud university the 288th position over the world’s universities in January 2014, and the 42nd over Asia universities and the first over the Arab World universities.
The campus contain a complete educational economical, commercial, medical and sport city. It offers a broad range of undergraduate courses in the natural sciences, the social sciences, the humanities and professional studies. Tuition is completely free and generous scholarships are available for Saudi and international students. The medium of instruction in undergraduate programs is English except for Arabic and Islamic subjects. Applicants are required to pass an Arabic examination if they are from a non-Arabic speaking country. English language support at all levels is provided by the Languages Unit.
